Dreams of Glory was written in five parts to celebrate the accomplishment of a sporting dream or goal.
It reflects, through several distinct changes of style and mood; the journey that must be undertaken by anyone who strives to achieve ultimate success. From ‘The Realisation’ of the possibility of participation, through the ‘The Dream’ of glory and the hard work and dedication of ‘Preparation’, culminating in the actual ‘Event’ itself, before the ‘Elation’ of fulfilling the dream and celebrating success.
The piece is written around an opening motif which appears in the trumpets towards the beginning of ‘The Realisation’. This motif follows through the musical journey in various forms and ties the whole journey together.
