Many settings of the Requiem Mass include a Pie Jesu as an independent movement. Of these, probably the best known is from the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.
It is a sublime aria which sings the prayer to the ‘good Jesus’ for everlasting rest.
This setting, arranged by Alwyn Green for Brass Octet beautifully captures the spirit of the original work.
The track below is played by the renowned Prince of Wales Brass, former members of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
