A great swinging opening number for any up and coming big band.
Composed with high school jazz bands in mind, with both sax and brass sections taking the lead with the catchy motif, Show Us the Blues uses a blues progression and a typical repeating melody in its structure.
Show Us the Blues has sections to help develop big band articulations – staccato, falls, accents, and swung quavers to capture the big band feel.
There is a chance to show off saxophone players skills with solos which are all written out to help players with limited or no improvisation skills.
Instruments are kept in comfortable ranges, but still allowing for punchy chords to come through and help less experienced bands to progress to good performance levels.
